Joyner was one of the few ordained woman in the Louisiana Conference of the Methodist Church

The Helen Marbury Raymond papers consist of her research materials and articles about William Marbury Carpenter (1811-1848), his family, and his connection to John James Audubon. The research materials include typescript correspondence from Lucy Audubon in 1827 and 1869.
